Engineering Manager (Backend) - India

The Right Profile: 

As an Engineering Manager (EM) for our Backend Team, you will collaborate closely with product and design teams to build effective, high-performing teams. Your primary focus will be on supporting and developing the individuals reporting to you, enabling them to achieve their professional goals, and aligning these goals with our broader company objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Building and Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing backend team by fostering an inclusive culture and empowering members through dedicated coaching and professional development.
• Technical Leadership: Drive engineering excellence as a hands-on leader by implementing best practices and contributing directly to the codebase to ensure continuous operational improvement.
• Collaboration: Partner closely with product and design teams to align technical execution with business objectives through clear, cross-departmental communication.
• Mentorship and Development: Unlock individual potential by challenging team members to step outside their comfort zones and providing the guidance necessary for their professional growth.
• Operational Excellence: Oversee the delivery of scalable, reliable backend systems by implementing and maintaining rigorous development and operational standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• 9+ years of industry experience, with at least 7 years as a developer and 2 years of delivering scalable products as a lead/manager.

• Proven experience in developing and working on high-scale systems.

• Strong technical background with hands-on experience in backend technologies and frameworks.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Demonstrated ability to build, mentor, and lead high-performing engineering teams.

• Experience working closely with product and design teams to deliver successful projects.

• A continuous improvement mindset with a passion for building and maintaining robust engineering practices.
